Wisdom beyond years

Last night I had a girl mention to me about her church.

She asked what religion we were. We said “Christian.” Then she said that her church was a form of Christianity. She is right. She is from a Lutheran church. They are a form of Christianity, but not all who attend are Christians. (Not all who attend our church are Christians either).

At our church, one must be a Christian (confess faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior) before they can join. In the Lutheran and Catholic and some other churches, one must attend catechism classes  before one can join. Now these classes teach the fundamentals of Christianity and the Bible, they do not stress the need for a relationship with Christ.

Therefore, we need to be in prayer for those we know who attend these different churches. Be in prayer that:

1- Our friends are saved and have a relationship with Jesus Christ
2- That others in their churches get saved and have a relationship with Jesus Christ

Good Job, Gang!!

We have just had a great week of Vacation Bible School. I pray that you all learned something this week (even if it was just to “B a wiki”).

I wanted to congratulate the group. We pushed for a high attendance on Wednesday of 20, which we did not reach.

However, in the past 4+ years that Hil and I have been at PBC, the highest VBS night for the youth has been 15 (in 2006). Guess what?! This year we matched that. We had 13 youth in the youth room, and we had 2 youth helping with other age-groups in VBS.

Therefore a congratulations is in order! Good job guys and gals!

VBS – WIKI

In this year’s VBS, we will sing about a wiki.

Wiki Wiki is the word “quick” in Hawaiian.

So, join Pastor Pila, Hilalio, and Kukine this week at Vacation Bible School!

And Now For Something Completely Different

This was online when I first found the internet, back in 1994. (Wow, it’s 14 years old, older than some of you!)

An Apology

Well, since I ask you youth to apologize when needed, I thought I would give an apology to you through the blog.

On Sunday, June 1, we had our Flag Football game against some other churches in the area. We ended up at the wrong location to start with and were thus 30 min late to the event.

I have to apologize for that. I was told once where it was going to be, but I failed to write it down. Then, when I was finalizing our plans, I did not double-check the location, but assumed it was at the usual spot. Therefore, it was my fault and I apologize.

Though I realize that it was not a major mistake or anything, I thank you for reading the apology and pray that you will accept me apology for this mistake. Thanks!

Interesting about the Passover meal

I’ll tell you what, this reading of the Bible in our quiet times is getting interesting. (Ok, maybe not R – rated interesting this time like what happened to Dinah and so forth, but interesting all the same.)

This week, we read about the passover meal being instituted. Ex. 12:11 seems interesting to me. It says, “And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the LORD’s Passover.”

The Hebrew there indicates not just a belt around the waist, but the lower garment tucked up into it (so that their garment was alittle above their knees). This is how they wore their garments to do running and so forth.

They were to be dressed and ready to run. They were to eat it in haste (quickly). But why? perhaps we will see in a few verses. Read on…check it out!
