God is AWESOME!

In reading through the plagues, I keep noticing that God sends the plagues to all of Egypt except for Goshen, where the Israelites were. It is certainly amazing when you look at a map and see that Goshen was in the north, but there is still Egypt above and below Goshen. Take a look:

notice that Ramsees is above it and Heliopolis is below. God is awesome!

This is getting interesting!

Have you been keeping up with your reading of the Quiet Time Scriptures?

Today, we read Exodus 6:28-7:13. Moses and Aaron were just commanded to talk to Pharaoh and demand him to let God’s people go. Then Aaron’s rod was turned into a snake and it ate up the magicians’ rods/snakes.

Tomorrow we get to read about the plagues. This is getting exciting!

Way to go Mike!

It is always great to see one of our students achieving recognition. Here is a blurb about his receiving an award for his service to the community:

Michael Hull (left), a senior at Boonsboro High School and Karlie Logsdon (right), a junior at Hancock Middle Senior High School were recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education on May 12, 2008 as Service Stars for the service they provide to their community. Jeffrey Stouffer, principal of Washington County Technical High, was also acknowledged with a Service-Learning Principal Leadership Recognition Award.

Mother / Daughter Banquet

Last night we had the annual Mother/Daughter Banquet. Many of the church’s women and girls came out for a night of food and entertainment. Some of the men of the church served the food.

The entertainment featured some of the men as well. It was a floral fashion show.  Though we have photos of the event, we will not be posting them (what a relief, huh?) [Deut. 22:5].

However, I guess I can hold them for blackmail purposes…but, wait, that would be extortion - 1 Cor. 5:10-11, 6:9-10.

Reading God’s Word?

I read an interesting quote this morning from Mark Twain. It says, “The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can’t read them.”

That got me thinking. Perhaps we could change that to: “The man (or woman) who does not read the Bible has no advantage over the man (or woman) who cannot read it, or who refuses to read it.”

With that said, I am personally wondering about my own Bible reading:
1. Do I read the Bible as much as I should?
(Is 15-30 minutes a day really adequate?)
2. Do I read the Bible for the reasons I should?
(Do I do it just to get through the devotional? Or am I doing it to learn from God?)

Something to think about, isn’t it?
