World Changers Commissioning
In preparation for our World Changers trip, the church commissioned us to go and spread the gospel in Roanoke, VA. The church pledged to pray for us daily while we are on our trip. In turn, we all pledged to be following Jesus while we are there, reading our Bibles, praying, and witnessing.
Check out the youth page for the clip of the service and for the pictures. Most importantly, pray for our trip on July 14-21. Thanks!
VBS
This year we actually had our VBS inside for the first time in many years. It was great. We could actually decorate (thank you Ashley for your help in that) and not worry about the weather.
There were about 10-12 youth who came out this year. Also, we had Hilary and Dustin as helpers (Hil with general stuff, Dustin with our sports and activities).
Overall, everyone seemed to have a great time. We learned about being a winner, a team player, and most importantly, that we need to get out there and represent Jesus’ team - bringing others to Christ and living for Him everyday.
Please check out the photo page for pics from this year’s VBS!
Pre-World Changers Retreat
On June 1 and 2, some of the youth going to this year’s World Changers trip met at the church for a retreat weekend. We had some study sessions on Friday night, along with some free time. The first study session, we learned about work and doing things we may not have wanted to do (like pick up the trash in front of the church).
On Saturday, we had some more study sessions. In these, we learned about sacrificing for God’s work (including our cell phones and video games). We also wrote out our testimonies and shared them so that we might be more comfortable sharing them in Roanoke in July. Later, we went to Russell and Corinne’s to get a taste of what the work projects would be like. All seemed to have fun (and experience the hand-numbing effects of a hand sander). Back at the church, we had lasagna before the parents arrived and we had a meeting with them.
All in all, it was fun! Please check out the pics on the photos page (courtesy of the Glenns).
