End of February

Sorry it has been a while since the last post.

Winter Breakout

The past weekend was great! We went to Skycroft for this year’s Winter Breakout. The weekend was filled with games, activities, Bible teaching, music, comedy and so much more! One of the weekends highlights was the comedian Daren Streblow. Not only did he do standup comedy throughout the weekend and hosted a workshop on Christian comedy, he also joined our group for lunch on Sunday. That was a blast!

For those of you who missed it, you missed staying up til midnight, pillow fights, good food, and plenty of Bible Study.

Cancelations

About 2-3 weeks ago, the UN relased a report on how global warming is on the increase. Due to that (or was it the heavy amount of snow and freezing rain?) we had to cancel Youth Group on Sunday, February 25.

Youth Group

We’ll have it again on Wednesday, March 7. You won’t want to miss this. We’ll run from 6:15-7:50pm. We’ll start the night with games and activities in the new fellowship hall.

Winter Bible Study, part 1, on January 28

This past Sunday, January 28, we started learning about integrety. What do we do when no one is watching us?

We learned that some of us can lie better than others. We learned that we need to be R.E.A.L. as Christians. We learned that we need to clean up our lives from the things God does not want in our lives.

We will learn on February 11th what we need to place in our lives instead, don’t miss it!

Also, don’t forget to join us at 5pm at the Hayes’ for a Superbowl Bible Study!

Sunday, Jan. 14 Youth Group

This Sunday, the youth had a name taped to their backs, which they had to figure out. (We resisted taping “kick me” on them)

We learned that

  • ABIGAIL means “my father is joy”
  • MADISON means “child of MAUD”
  • SPENCER means “dispenser of provisions”
  • MATTHEW means “gift of YAHWEH”
  • JOSHUA means “YAHWEH is salvation”
  • RUSSELL means “little red one”
  • CORRINNE means “maiden”
  • HILARY means “cheerful” and
  • WILLIAM means “protector.”

We also learned that

  • YAHWEH means “fulfiller of promises”
  • ADONAI means “master”
  • ELOHIM means “preeminent”
  • EL SHADDAI means “God Almighty”
  • EL ELYON means “Most Hight God”
  • El OLAM means “Unchanging God”
  • JEHOVAH JIREH means “the Lord will provide”
  • JEHOVAH NISSI (Not Nissan) means “the Lord our banner” and
  • JEHOVAH SHALOM means “the Lord is Peace.”

It is great to learn about God and how limitless His power is and His blessings are to us who are Christians!

Entry for January 12, 2007

Welcome to the Youth Blog. Here you will find information about the youth and for the youth.

If you missed Youth Group Sunday, Jan 7th, you missed seeing two Matthews going against each other holding their breath under water. Both were doing well until the one laughed and had to come up for air.

Also, Abbie and Josh had to fall blindfolded into the arms of other youth, not aware if they were there or not.

As humans, we fear injury and drowning, etc. Yet, with Christ, we have nothing really to fear!
